Exploring the Sushi Yuen Menu
Embarking on a culinary journey at Sushi Yuen entails a captivating exploration of the exquisite menu. The experience begins with a trio of delectable starters, each reflecting the essence of the season. The delicate soft roe of the shirako, the harmonious blend of miso-marinated black cod and crunchy river crab, and the caviar-adorned West Coast oyster collectively set the stage for an exceptional dining affair. A highlight of the menu is the artfully crafted handroll, where Gamtae seaweed envelops the marriage of tuna and shiso.
This exquisite combination showcases a masterful play of flavors and textures. The commitment to sourcing seasonal seafood from the renowned Toyosu Fish Market in Japan resonates in every meticulously prepared dish. The marriage of Kaiseki ryori and Edomae style Sushiya techniques elevates the experience further. A devotion to time-honored methods such as aging, curing, and marinating enhances the inherent qualities of each ingredient, delivering a symphony of tastes that pays homage to tradition.

Delicious food!
My first experience with Omakase at Sushi Yuen was unforgettable. It exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere was pristine, exuding Zen vibes, and with only 12 seats available, it felt exclusive. Throughout the meal, the chefs and servers provided insights into the origin of each ingredient. They showcased the finest Japanese ingredients, including a variety of fresh fish, certified meats, handmade buckwheat noodles, and a $100 melon for dessert. Every dish was exceptionally delicious!
DELICIOUS
When considering all factors, Sushi Yuen stands out as one of Southern California’s premier high-end Sushi Omakase destinations. Their lunch Omakase, priced at just under $100 for a 13-piece meal with dessert, offers remarkable value. Parking is abundant in the plaza, and if it’s full at ground level, there’s underground parking available. During the summer, I recommend parking underground to escape the heat. Lunch Omakase is available at two time slots: 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM. Arriving 15-30 minutes early is advisable, as there’s usually a queue for the affordable lunch menu. The moment you step inside, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to an authentic Japanese Sushi Restaurant. The restaurant is impeccably clean and visually pleasing. You can watch the chefs meticulously prepare your meal as soon as you enter. The service is warm and patient, attending to our every need, including clearing finished plates. The sushi’s quality is truly outstanding. It’s challenging to find a better Omakase deal anywhere. Each piece offered a unique flavor and melted in my mouth. The only downside was that I still wanted more after the course ended. I highly recommend everyone to experience this place—it offers the best sushi I’ve ever tasted.
Good food safe
Savor an intimate, delectable, and high-quality 13-course lunch Omakase with dessert for just $90! I had been eyeing this place for a while and finally got the chance to try their lunch Omakase. They offer two lunchtime slots: 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM. When I arrived at around 11:20 AM on a Wednesday, they didn’t have enough seats for my group of 3, so I chose the 1:00 PM slot, which guaranteed seating. During the 1:00 PM slot, there were about 5-7 free seats, so it was quite a relaxed experience! I loved the ambiance and decor, and there’s even a waiting room at the back of the restaurant where you’ll find the bathrooms, which, by the way, are spotless and equipped with high-tech bidets! Overall, it was a fantastic meal, and I’m eager to try their dinner menu, which offers more of a Kaiseki experience, as explained by the sushi chef!
Excellent Cuisine
Sushi Yuen holds a special place in my heart, or should I say, my belly (haha). This marks our third visit to Sushi Yuen in less than a year (we’ve been busy), but it’s our third visit overall! Our last visit was in November with friends, and it was delightful to see that Chef Ryan (yes, I finally learned his name) had introduced some seasonal changes, offering a refreshing twist from our previous Omakase experiences (don’t get me wrong, all the Omakase here is enjoyable, but there were quite a few new items to savor). From the chefs to the servers, they exude calm, composure, and politeness. This time, we came for an early dinner mid-week (only two parties of two were booked), which allowed us to enjoy a more relaxed pace with the chefs, as they weren’t fully occupied during our early dinner (they now seat a maximum of 12 at a time). We had the opportunity to engage with Chef Ryan and learn more about the food and Sushi Yuen. We particularly relish the fresh fish and ingredients, especially the uni, their in-house-made soy sauce, the freshly grated horseradish throughout the courses, and their house-pickled ginger (delicious, even for non-ginger enthusiasts). Plus, the chawanmushi was served in an Hermes bowl and lid, and desserts were always presented on Christian Dior plates. Chef Ryan mentioned that he had some LV cups on order that should arrive soon!
Amazing
On a Friday night, we came here to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. Upon entering, you’re seated right in front of the chefs, where you can witness their culinary artistry. There’s only one sushi bar with 13 seats available. I had made reservations 3-4 weeks in advance, and we were seated a little after 8 PM. Our dinner continued until around 10:15 PM, creating an incredible experience. The food quality, the chefs’ attention to detail, and everything about the evening exceeded my expectations. Among the dishes we tried, my favorites included the A5 wagyu, grade 3 uni, eel, and otoro. The fish is directly imported from Japan, and the difference in taste is noticeable. We enjoyed approximately 15 dishes and concluded with a dessert plate featuring a $100 melon! While it was undeniably expensive, it was worth every penny. You’re not just paying for the food; you’re paying for a 2.5-hour presentation. It was an outstanding experience, and I would do it again. Thank you, Sushi Yuen, for an unforgettable evening.
